The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman
A writer from New York travels to Bayonne, Louisiana, during the height of the civil rights movement, in order to interview Jane Pittman, who had just turned 110 at the time. She takes him on a journey back in time to the days before slavery was abolished, recounting her earliest memories. The present-day battles of Blacks in Bayonne, spurred on by Jimmy, are presented in between the tales of her life.
