I'll Fly Away
I Will Fly Away is a American drama tv show collection through the late 1950s and early 1960s, at a unspecified Southern U.S. country. It starred Regina Taylor as Lilly Harper, a housekeeper for its household of district attorney Forrest Bedford, whose title is an ironic reference Nathan Bedford Forrest and aired on NBC in 1991 to 1993. Lilly became involved with the Civil Rights Movement, together with events drawing Forrest also as the show progressed.
I Will Fly Away won 2 1992 Emmy Awards, and 23 nominations altogether. It got a Peabody Award, two Golden Globe Awards, two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, and three Humanitas Prizes. Nevertheless, the show was never a ratings blockbuster, and it was canceled by NBC in 1993, despite protests by critics and audience organizations.
After the conclusion, a movie of the program, I'll Fly Away: Then now, was produced, in order to resolve storylines that are dangling and offer a legitimate finale to the series. The movie aired on PBS on October 11, 1993. Its story line paralleled the true narrative of the 1955 murder of Emmett Till. Subsequently, PBS began airing repeats of their initial episodes, ceasing after one complete showing of the whole series.
