The Flying Doctors
The Flying Doctors is an Australian play show produced by Crawford Productions that revolved around the lifesaving efforts of the real Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.
It was initially a 1985 mini series situated at the literary outback town of Cooper's Crossing starring Andrew McFarlane whilst the newly arrived Dr. Tom Callaghan. This mini series' achievements led to its return the following year since a continuing series with McFarlane being linked with a brand new physician played with Liz Burch. McFarlane abandoned during the season and celebrity Robert Grubb arrived as physician Geoff Standish.
The show' episodes were mostly self-evident but additionally featured ongoing storylines, such as Dr. Standish's romance with Sister Kate Wellings. Additional significant characters included pilot Sam Patterson, mechanic Emma Plimpton, local policeman Sgt. Jack Carruthers and Vic and Nancy Buckley, who conducted the local pub/hotel, The Majestic. Andrew McFarlane additionally came back to the show, restarting his job as Dr. Callaghan. The show ran for nine seasons and was successfully screened internationally.
