20th Century Boys 1: Beginning of the End

In 1969, Kenji, an elementary school kid and his friends assembled a covert base. They believed they wrote them and had to fight with villains who were outside to conquer the entire world. Years later in 1997, Kenji becomes a convenience store manager and contributes a regular life after quitting his dreams to be a rock star. His boring life is turned upside down when his older class mate dies along with an whole family in the neighbourhood disappears. At the exact same time, a religious cult and its boss that is mysterious, Friend stems along with a strange series of events repeating the events follow. Is this beginning of the end of the world?
