Mulholland Dr.
Initially,"Mulholland Dr." has been to mark David Lynch's come back to television. It is just a retooling of a script originally shot as a 94-minute pilot for a TV series (co-written with TV screenwriter Joyce Eliason) for the channel ABC, that had approved the scriptbut chose not really to broadcast the pilot once it was done in 1999, even though Lynch's labours to decrease the project into their liking. It was abandoned in limbo before 18-month after French company Studio Canal Plus (also producer of'The Straight Story') consented to cover ABC $7 million for the pilot, and budget a couple million more to show the pilot to some two-hour, 27-minute movie. The expense of the film dropped to $14 million as collections had to be rebuilt and actors remembered.
