Year of Enlightment

April, 1940. Jesus, who is simply 8, and manolo, 16 yrs old, are taken by his older brother Pepe to some sanatorium for children suffering from tuberculosis, situated on the border with Portugal. Once in the sanatorium, Manolo, surrounded by boys all much younger than he is, feels just a little like the penis of the walk as the only other man around could be that the handyman Emilio who takes care of the gardens and does anything should be done about the area. Rafaela, his wife, could be your cook. Manolo meets with the faculty teacher, Miss Transito, a crabby spinster, and Irene, a falangist who runs on the sanatorium. He has his first sexual experience, albeit as a voyeur. Together with whom Manolo drops in love If she's got to leave , a girl from the village, Maria Jesus takes her place. A relationship grows between them which can indicate them both permanently.
