John Safran vs God
John Safran versus God is a eight-part television documentary show by John Safran which was broadcast on SBS TV of Australia. It's been clarified at a media release as"John Safran's most daring job yet". It had a much more serious tone than Safran's previous work Music Jamboree. The show was co-written with Mark O'Toole, headed by Craig Melville premiered by Ghost SBS Independent and Your Ex-Boyfriend Productions, and made by Selin Yaman. The show won the 2005 Australian Film Institute Award for Best Comedy Series.
The opening theme of the show is Hate Priest by the group Mozart on Crack. The opening sequence includes John at a dark suit bursting out of a patch of scorched earth that is black within a thunderstorm with his bare hands. The words"once the thousand years have been Satan will be released from his prison" are spoken at a non pseudo-ominous voice.
