The Great Penguin Rescue
The African penguin is struggling for its life... Michaela Strachan is dedicated to assisting them. Michaela, as the newest member of the SANCCOB chick bolstering team, will investigate why the penguin population has declined so drastically and what may be done to save them. The South African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) annually conducts a dramatic rescue of hundreds of penguin chicks whose parents are unable to feed them owing to harsh conditions. Up to 500 fragile chicks must be saved, cared for, taught survival skills, and eventually released back into the wild over the course of six weeks of frenzied activity.
