The Mary Whitehouse Experience
The Mary Whitehouse Experience was a British Outside sketch comedy Series. It starred two comedy double acts - David Baddiel and Rob Newman, and also Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis, every one of whom had graduated from Cambridge University. It was broadcast on both the radio and tv in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The series was named after Mary Whitehouse, a campaigner against what she viewed in tv standards and spirituality. She eventually became the target of mockery on string like Doctor Who and Until Death Us Do Part. The BBC feared lawsuit would be initiated by Whitehouse for its employment of her name at the name of the show, and also for a time the name The William Rees-Mogg Experience was first considered.
